DFA Awards Design Dialogue themed with “Design for Propagating Asian Values” in Singapore was completed with a great success yesterday.

Thanks for the support from National Design Centre, Singapore and the greeting  by Guest of Honour Mr. Jacks Yeo (Deputy Executive Director, DesignSingapore Council). During the dialogue, guest moderator Ms. Kelley Cheng (Judge of DFA Design for Asia Awards 2013, 2010, 2008 and 2007; Ish Magazine/ Grand Award 2005) and guest speakers including Mr. Arnault Castel (Judge of DFAA 2018), Mr. Boon Gee Look (Fuzhou Jin Niu Shan Trans-Urban Connector (Fudao)/ Grand Award 2018), Mr. Terence Seah (Terminal 4, Changi Airport/ Grand Award with Special Mention 2018), Ms. Panida Tosnaitada (Bangkok Publishing Residence/ Grand Award with Special Mention 2018) and Mr. Nicholas Tsao (DFA HKYDTA 2016)  shared their design thinking behind the winning projects and their views on “Design for Propagating Asian Values”.

Facing different challenges in Asia, like economic value always come first in commercial projects, designers do not only put their focus on aesthetic but also the functions and creative solutions in the designs. All the guest speakers agreed that the user experience is an important element to be considered for a design project.

After the design dialogue, guests were invited to the opening party to celebrate the kick-off of the 3-month DFA Pop-up Store at kapok NDC last night. Selected winning projects of DFA Design for Asia Awards and designs by winners of DFA Hong Kong Young Design Talent Award are being sold at kapok NDC until 4 Sep 2019. Come and take the good designs home.
